Bangkitnya Suster Gepeng (2012)
The grandfather of Keiko Larasati Hirosuke, an Indonesian-Japanese mixed, is a former Japanese soldier assigned in Indonesia. After the war is over, he returns to Japan, gets married and has a child who later on marries an Indonesian man.
One night, returning from a club with her friends, Keiko receives a strange terror. She hears a strange broadcast from the radio that resembles one from the revolution era.
Since that night she experiences another terror with the emergence of a planate nurse drenched in blood who always rambles in Japanese which means “a promise made is a debt unpaid” and “a life at stake”. But not only terrorizing her, the nurse also slaughters people who are close to Keiko. The nurse is in fact demands something that Keiko doesn’t understand until she phones Sato Hirosuke, her grandfather.
A past is revealed. In the times prior to the declaration of the Indonesia’s independance, Sato Hirosuke dates an Indonesian nurse, Larasati. They meet in discretion out of fear of each people’s resistance who are against each other.
Larasati is involved in a youth movement to make way for the declaration. The Japanese soldiers hear about the movement and hold an operation to prevent the declaration. Larasati becomes a target of the Japanese. They catch her and she dies, squashed in an elevator. Tragically Sato Hirosuke is there without unable to do anything. Larasati wants to avenge for her death and her sacrifice, together with a group of youth murdered by the Japanese.
