Bidadari-Bidadari Surga (2012)
Laisa’s and her family’s life in Lahambay Valley is not easy. As the oldest of five, Laisa has to takes care of her mother and her siblings: Dalimunte, Ikanuri, Wibisana and Yashinta. They all work hard to extract rubber from the woods, collect logs, weave hats to sell, and many more.
In a humbling condition, Laisa brings changes to her family and the villagers. Laisa turns their lands into strawberry fields. When Dalimunthe will marry, preceding Laisa, he feels guilty. He and everyone else have been occupied with Laisa’s matchmakings without considering her feelings each time it fails.
Dharma, a friend of Dalimunthe, with whom Laisa is in love, in fact has married. Dharma’s wife, who can’t have a baby, is willing to let her husband marry again. Laisa feels cheated. Dharma apologizes for hurting her. A preparation is made then for a wedding day. But prior to that day, Dharma hears the news that his wife is pregnant. It is a joy to him, but a crushing dream for Laisa. She gets back to her fields, makes herself busy and acts as if nothing has happened.
The illness that she has endured all this time is lung cancer.
