Second Lieutenant Bagus is indecisive facing with extraordinary circumstances. Responsibilities as security officer collide with the obligation to care his wife, Salma, the state palace staff, who are pregnant. Salma is trapped in riots and declared missing. Pressure from superiors: Bagus must prioritize his tasks and as a man not to be a crybaby only because of small events.
Unrest forces President Suharto comes home from Cairo earlier. Governments are faced with a difficult situation. Community leaders and some representatives of mass organizations directly ask the president Soeharto to resign. But he unmoves and plans to form a committee and cabinet reforms to address these demands.
Meanwhile, good luck reluctant to side with Bagus. Diana, his sister-in-law and reform activist student, must quarrel with his brother when she knew Salma lost in the middle of the riots. Diana accuses Bagus could not keep Salma. Things are complicated when Daniel, Diana’s boyfriend of Chinese descent who also fights for reform, loses his father and brother in the riots. Even Daniel is almost trapped by non-indigenous sweeping, who is a racial issue peak in Indonesia. Fortunately Daniel survives and finds his family and joins the exodus to leave Indonesia.
President Suharto form a committee and cabinet reform which does not get a positive response. Even the chairman of the Assembly, Harmoko, asks the prudent to resign. In addition, there are 14 members of the cabinet ministers reject the reform cabinet.
Salma is rescued and taken to a hospital. At the time of the birth of her first child, Bagus and Diana find Salma. Their awaiting baby is born.
17 years pass. Daniel returns to Jakarta to bring his father’s cremated remains. His father wants to rest in the land of his birth. Daniel finds Diana. They still have the same passion to continue the spirit of reform.
