The Indonesian National Team in 2014 makes it in the quarter final of the World Cup in Brazil. Gabriel Omar (Zendhy Zaen) becomes a star, scoring the most goals, six. He turns into a celebrity and a new icon for Indonesian youth. Furthermore, his performance with the National Team and his club, Jakarta Metropolitan, shines even more after the 2014 World Cup. Gabriel Omar’s life has changed.
However the success of the national soccer industry and its management is not just about sweet stories. Being the number one player who is also a media darling and constant center of attention of the public, Gabriel deals with a very complex situation. Bambang Pamungkas (Ibnu Jamil) who has just returned from Europe to join Jakarta Metropolitan becomes Gabriel’s mentor.
Gabriel also struggles to maintain his father’s trust, Edi Baskoro (Mathias Muchus). A dilemma springs from his closest circle, Dimas Bramantyo (Ray Sahetapy), his talent scout, trainer and Jakarta Metropolitan’s manager. Still another stems from Andien Zulaikha (Tika Putri), Gabriel’s childhood bestfriend.
The film presents a number of local and foreign soccer players: Atep and Shahar Ginanjar (Persib Bandung), Hasim Kipuw, Joko Sasongko and Dedi Kusnandar (Arema Indonesia), Ramdhani Lestahulu (Sriwijaya FC), Andritany (ex Persija Jakarta), Ruben Sanadi (Persipura Jayapura), Casimir Bruno (ex PSS Sleman), not to mention the former national team star, Rochi Puriray.
