Nagabonar Jadi 2 (2007)
Nagabonar (Deddy Mizwar) owned a vast palm oil plantation, meanwhile his wife, mother and best friend already passed away and are buried in the same plantation. One day, his son, Bonaga (Tora Sudiro) who passed master degree abroad and now becomes a property businessman, asks him to come to Jakarta. The comedy starts at the arrival in Jakarta, based on the crash between old values—especially nationalism in 1945—and the lame and corrupt condition of Indonesia’s social-economics in 2007. Bonaga and friends want to change Nagabonar’s plantation into a luxurious cottage, cooperating with a Japanese company, upsets Nagabonar. He goes around Jakarta to express his anger. He then sees more disappointments, but he also realizes that there have been so many big changes. He cannot accept the condition, but yet he also loves his only son so much and tries to understand him. He even naively teaches his son how to seduce his girlfriend Monita (Wulan Guritno). Bonaga himself then can understand his father’s moral position. The best comedy in the last 10 years.
