The destiny determines that Ernest (Kevin Anggara / Ernest Prakasa) is born in a Chinese family. He grows up in the New Order era when discrimination against ethnic Chinese is still strong. Bullying becomes his daily diet.
He tries to mingle with his native friends, though opposed by his best friend, Patrick (Brandon Salim/Morgan Oey). Unfortunately, his efforts does not succeed, until Ernest concludes that the best way to mingle is by marrying a native woman.
When studying in Bandung, Ernest meets with Meira (Lala Karmela). Although opposed by Meira’s father (Budi Dalton), they are dating and then marriy in a Chinese custom for the sake of Ernest’s parents (Ferry Salim and Olga Lidya).
Married with indigenous women does not solve Ernest’s problem. He is haunted begins haunted by fear: what if the child has an appearance as himself. This fear makes Ernest postpones having children. Meanwhile, Meira is urged by her parents, who want to have grandchildren. Ernest gives up for fear of losing Meira.
The bigger Meira’s belly grows, the greater the fear that haunts Ernest. Ernest’s stress makes him do a big mistake in the office. Not strong enough to face the pressures, Ernest flees to a place where he and Patrick hid when they was child.
Patrick finds Ernest and urges him to go immediately to the hospital. Meira gives birth to a slant-eyed baby girl. Although her baby looks very Chinese like him, Ernest is very happy. Her presence gives him the courage to face life.
